BD Venflon Pro Safety Needle Protected IV Cannula is a passive safety peripheral IV catheter (PIVC) used to minimize the risk of blood spatter and needlestick injuries (NSI). It has a BD Instaflash Needle Technology, which provides instant visual confirmation of vessel entry, increasing the chances of successful insertion on the first attempt. Its passive safety system fully shields the needle tip upon withdrawal, ensuring enhanced protection for healthcare professionals. It is made from BD Vialon catheter material, softens in the vein by up to 70%, reducing the risk of mechanical phlebitis and enabling longer dwell times. Its ergonomic design allows for flexibility in insertion techniques, while the back-cut needle ensures optimal skin and vein penetration. Its flexible wings provide a secure and comfortable fit for the patient, and the snap cap port design prevents accidental opening, ensuring a safe and smooth IV experience.

Key Features of BD Venflon Pro Safety Needle Protected IV Cannula:

Catheter Design: The BD Venflon IV Cannula consists of a flexible, thin, and hollow catheter that is inserted into a patient's vein to establish intravenous access. The catheter is typically made of medical-grade plastic or similar material. It is available in various lengths and gauges to accommodate different patient needs and clinical requirements.
Needle: The BD Venflon IV Cannula features a sharp, beveled needle that is used for the initial puncture of the vein during the insertion process. Once the catheter is properly positioned, the needle is withdrawn, leaving the catheter in place for intravenous therapy.
Winged Hub: The cannula is attached to a winged hub, which serves as a handle for the healthcare provider to hold and manipulate the device during insertion. The wings allow for better grip and control during the procedure.
Flashback Chamber: The BD Venflon IV Cannula typically has a flashback chamber integrated into the hub. The flashback chamber provides visual confirmation of successful vein entry by allowing the healthcare provider to observe a blood flashback when the needle punctures the vein.
Catheter Stabilization: The cannula is designed with features to facilitate secure catheter fixation. It may have wings or additional adhesive material to help secure the catheter in place once it is inserted into the vein.
Sterility: The BD Venflon IV Cannula is supplied sterile and is intended for single-use only. It should be handled and used following aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and reduce the risk of infection.
